Teenspace - Dunedin Public Library
Project brief
The library requested a space with the Young Adult in mind.
“Whilst teenagers try their best to disassociate from their parents and societal norms in many ways, they can never completely erase the environment they live in. A teenager’s bedroom is a good example of where the physical environment remains unaltered, however through adornment of the space with imagery and objects, the character of space is changed and a teenage is able to express their own identity”.
The interior was stripped back and replaced with imagery and objects by teenagers, for teenagers. This space included relaxed and novel fixings and furniture, vending machines, info-stations, television, music stations.
Awards
The interior design received an NZIA Southern Branch Award 2010.
